With a pay as you go meter you can pay off an outstanding balance. Firstly we agree a weekly repayment amount with you which will then be paid through your meter. If you have a key meter, it will recover 1% of the weekly repayment amount every 101 minutes.
For example
If the agreement was that you paid £6 per week to the outstanding balance, the meter will then take 6p (1% of the weekly repayment amount) every 101 minutes until it has taken £6. That works out as 85p a day.
What if I don't top up every week?
It is part of the agreement to top up your meter with credit every week, even if you aren't using electricity. If you don't top up the meter each week or top up enough to recover payments:
- The meter will add the payments it couldn't recover to the front screen. This total will have to be paid before credit for electricity can be applied.
- The weekly recovery amount may have to be increased.
- It will take longer to pay off an outstanding balance.
Are you struggling to make your weekly payments?
To help you with your balance repayment, we can arrange for your weekly recovery rate to be increased or decreased for short periods of time to suit your lifestyle. Contact us online or by phone on 0800 048 0303*. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Your debt might not appear on your meter straight away. If this is the case, we will always write and let you know when it will be added.
Where can I buy credit for my meter?
