If you have a pay as you go meter and have no gas, there are a few checks you can carry out to determine what has happened.
| Problem | What to do |
| My meter has switched off | If the meter has switched off then you have run out of emergency credit. Ensure all appliances are switched off. We recommend you top up at least £15 to pay back the emergency credit and have credit available for gas. Once you have topped up, insert the card and follow the on screen instructions. |
| I have credit on my meter and I have an error message | If you have an error message on your meter then you may be able to solve this using our error message help. |
| I have credit on my meter and I have a 'Card Fail' message | If you have this message on your meter then you need a new gas card , find out how to get a new card now. |
| The meter is on, I have credit on my meter and there is no error message | - Check your gas appliances are turned on.
- Check if you have credit and there's no error message on your meter.
- Turn off all appliances and call gas emergency services on 0800 111 999.
