In order to force the hub and mains powered devices to go to sleep (for shipping or storage), you would need to carry out the following:
Your hub:
Remove the mains power cable and the Ethernet cable from the hub. Once this has been done, you would need to insert a pin or paperclip into the reset hole located on the back of the hub. This should turn the LED's on the hub off and put it in shipping mode.
SmartPlugs:
Remove the SmartPlug from the mains power and then press and hold the button on the top of the SmartPlug for ten seconds. As you are holding this button, you will notice the orange LED on the front of the SmartPlug glow. After ten seconds of holding this button, you should then notice that the LED has gone out. This would indicate that this device is now in shipping mode.
In order to bring these devices out of the shipping mode, you would just need to connect the devices back to the mains power and the hub to the mains and broadband connections.
