British Gas and National Energy Action (NEA) have set up the REECH programme. It's aim is to help members of ethnic minority communities overcome the barriers that can prevent them from heating and insulating their homes affordably.

Centrica group of companies contributed more than £7 million and 13,000 hours of employee time in 2006, in support of community initiatives.

Here to Help

As part of our ‘here to HELP’ programme, we were able to identify over £11.2 million worth of unclaimed benefits. In 2005/2006, British Gas provided £45 million in winter fuel rebates for vulnerable customers.

Working with Help the Aged

Now in its the eight year, British gas has invested more than £7 million in practical schemes to improve the lives of around 1.9 million older people. The programme now focuses on the problem of older people in Britain dying needlessly from the cold.
