World-beating performances
The British Swimming Teams bought back an amazing three Gold and three Silver medals from the 2011 14th FINA World Championships in Shanghai. Outstanding performances from the swimming and disability swimming teams at the British Gas Swimming Championships in March 2012 led the teams to the London Olympics. The British Swimming Team claimed one Silver medal through Michael Jamieson's outstanding performance in the 200m Breaststroke and two Bronze medals in the 400 and 800m Freestyle claimed by Britain’s greatest ever Swimmer - Rebecca Adlington. Further success at the London Olympic Aquatics Centre saw Tom Daley's first Olympic medal with a Bronze in the Men’s 10m Platform.
The Paralympic GB Swimming Team brought home a total of thirty nine Paralympic medals with Gold medals won by Josef Craig, Jonathan Fox, Oliver Hynd, Jessica-Jane Applegate, Heather Frederiksen and two Golds for Ellie Simmonds who took a huge five seconds off the World Record in the 400m Freestyle and also broke her own personal record to win Gold two days later in the 200m Individual Medley.
