Then it’s likely you’ve got cavity walls. And with a third of heat lost in uninsulated homes through the walls, having them insulated can help reduce that heat loss as well as lower your energy bills.
What happens when you get cavity wall insulation?
After being put in touch with a Trustmark registered installer, you’ll be one step closer to a warmer home. Here’s what’s involved in the process:
- They do an assessment of your cavity wall, drilling small holes to make sure there’s no debris that could cause problems later down the line
- Installation can take one day – the installer blows insulation beads into the cavity using compressed air
- After installation, you’ll be given guidance on how to control moisture in your home along with other useful recommendations

How long does cavity wall insulation take?
Installing cavity wall typically takes a few hours. Your installer will drill small holes at intervals in the external walls of your home, inject insulation through the holes using specialist equipment, and then seal them with cement, so you’ll barely notice them.
Is cavity wall insulation right for my home?
Homes built between the 1920s and 1980 typically did not have Cavity Wall insulation installed when built.
During the survey, your home will be identified for its suitability for Cavity Wall insulation. This will include looking and the condition of the brickwork, and consideration of the local area (for factors such as wind-driven rain).
Are there grants available for cavity wall insulation?
