British Gas are giving away a free swim to all UK residents this summer in a bid to get families fit. We’re supporting swimming at all levels, from backing our London 2012 Olympic hopefuls to encouraging children who are learning how to swim. 

When leading mummy website, Brit Mums, heard about our initiative, they wanted to get involved so we decided to throw a Twitter party. On Wednesday 2^nd May at 1pm, hordes of Twitter users began discussing their love of swimming and the British Gas free swim offer using the hashtag #BGFreeSwim. 

We quickly became the second most talked about topic on Twitter as people shared their fondest swimming memories and the reasons they love to get in to the pool with their children.

Twitter user @staffstechgirl said, “The best thing about swimming is that the whole family can go and enjoy it together” whilst Andrea Dalziel pointed out “it’s the only sport that can save children’s lives, they love it without realising.”
