2010 saw the association between British Gas and British Swimming go from strength to strength with three main initiatives putting the spotlight on swimming!

3 Free Swims

Since August 2010, our 3 Free Swims promotion has given British Gas customers the chance to dive into swimming at a participating pool near them. After all, the best way to remind people how fun and beneficial it is to swim is to get them into the pool which we did with over 100,000 customer sign ups, we gave away nearly a million swims.

Pools 4 Schools

Our Pools 4 Schools™ programme offered a fantastic addition to many schools and community groups around the country - a temporary pool! Installed anywhere from a community hall to a school gym, these pools offered a safe environment for experienced teachers to help children overcome their fear of water. Along with the help of six-time swimming world champion Mark Foster, we are very proud to have helped 20,000 children learn how to swim in 2010.

British Gas Great Swim Series

The Great Swim Series is the largest outdoor swimming event in the UK with swimmers of all levels completing a one mile open water challenge. In 2010, 20,000 swimmers donned their wetsuits and took part  in this great challenge at 3 locations across the UK. This year there will be five events across the summer so whether you're an elite swimmer or just fancy a challenge, open water swimming is something different and we can help you along the way with training and preparation. Why not sign up today at greatswim.org.
