Introducing the British Gas Tariff Check

Have you ever wondered if you could save money by switching to a different British Gas tariff? Well, now you don’t have to wonder, as we’ll be getting in touch to tell you if you can!

As the nation’s largest energy supplier, we have been working hard to ensure buying energy is simple, transparent and fair for our customers.  Last year, we simplified our tariff structure and bills, and the latest service we have introduced is ‘Tariff Check’. 

Every six months, our 10 million customers will benefit from a personalised service that will show you if you can save money on a different tariff. We do this by taking your energy consumption over the previous 12 months. British Gas is the first major supplier to offer this service and we’ll be contacting all of our customers about it over the next 10 weeks. The best part is, you don’t even need to register for a ‘Tariff Check’, we’ll automatically add it to the ‘Can I save money?’ section of your bill.  

We’ll also be flagging to our customers other ways you can save on your energy bills – including: insulation and energy efficiency measures; the EnergySmart online toolkit that features a free electricity monitor; and Nectar points, which can be earned by all British Gas customers.

Ian Peters, Managing Director of Residential Energy at British Gas, said: “We know that household budgets are under pressure and people need to find ways to cut costs.  And I also know from speaking to customers they are often short of time. That’s why we’ve introduced ‘Tariff Check’, helping our customers by doing the research and hard work on their energy account for them, and clearly setting out ways to save – including moving to a different tariff if it will be cheaper for them.”

dear sir i have just recieved my annual statement from british gas with the option to join your fix and fall november, i am with you for my electric and gas metered for both and wish to take this offer up but am unable to get through by phone to you what can i do, please help,many thanks l.vanhinsbergh

Customer number 85 00 33 69 04 55. After receiving a telephone message on 21st October asking for gas and electric meter readings I replied immediately, to date,(4th November) I have not received gas or electric bills. I rang today and hung on for 20mins, but no answer. Did you receive the meter readings?

I have been looking into ways of saving on my gas bill but unfortunately my email will not allow me to contact you to register (or check whether my nectar card is registered with you. If, as I suspect it is not then I have been wasting my points. I have also tried contacting the 0870 4100100 no but it also isn't working. Any suggestions please.
