MP’s get together to Share The Warmth

On Wednesday, MPs at the House of Commons rallied together from all sides of the political spectrum to show support for British Gas’ new Share The Warmth campaign.

The initiative aims to ease the strain of energy bills on vulnerable households by offering £50 to anyone who recommends a vulnerable friend or relative to get their house insulated. The insulation process is totally free, and British Gas will even give that person £50 as well to help encourage them to take up the offer. They don’t even need to be a British Gas customer!

Politicians have been keen to support the campaign, and during the course of the day, 43 Members of Parliament stopped off to have their photo taken with  British Gas engineer Carl O’Neill, a roll of insulation and a cheque for £50. The focus of the day was to help raise awareness of the programme among MP’s constituents, and many of the people who took part have expressed a desire to elevate the project with local community groups.

People eligible for this scheme include those who are receiving some form of government support (such as child tax credit, jobseeker’s allowance or income support) and have either a child under 5 in their care, are a pensioner or are registered as disabled.

If you think you fall into this category, or you know someone who does, simply phone 0800 975 1195 for free and speak to one of our advisors for details on how to receive your payment and/or insulation.
