From 1 April 2010, you will be rewarded for generating your own electricity through renewable sources.
Not just now, but for the next 20 to 25 years depending on the type of technology you have installed.
If you generate your own electricity from a renewable, low carbon source, you can register with your electricity supplier and they will pay you a Feed In Tariff.
This is an example of what you could be paid for generating your own electricity from a 3 kilowatt peak (kWp) solar PV system, based on a price of 41.3 p/kwh
The electricity that you don't need will feed back into the National Grid and you'll be paid an extra 3p for each kWh exported.

Please note that savings provided above are for customers installing after 15 July 2009. All existing customers registered for the Renewables Obligation before this date will be subject to different FIT rates.
