Tips for an accurate quote

Step 1: Getting started

  • If you've purchased your business electricity package online you'll receive an email confirming your application details and one of our agents will contact you within 48 hours
  • You'll receive a contract pack in the post
  • We'll begin to process your application to switch your electricity supply

Step 2: Contract pack arrives

  • You have a nine-calendar-day cooling-off period from the date your contract pack is sent out
  • Once you've received it, make sure you read through the pack carefully and if there's anything you don't understand,contact your Sales Advisor
  • If you decide not to go ahead within that ten-day period, you won't be penalised

Step 3: Supply switch and set-up

  • We contact the Supplier Meter Registration Service (SMRS) and advise them we're taking over your commercial electricity supply
  • The SMRS notifies your existing supplier that you are switching your electricity supply to British Gas Business
  • We take care of the checks and meter readings on your business electricity supply prior to switchover, keeping you informed as we go
  • A meter reading is taken on - or close to - the date of transfer

Step 4: Welcome to British Gas Business

  • Your electricity supply is switched over on transfer day and your site will be on supply on the agreed date
  • You can now enjoy the benefits of your new business electricity supply
