Legal Obligations for Your Business
Energy Performance Certificates
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Display Energy Certificates (DECs) are the government's chosen way of complying with the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
New legislation will mean that at the point of construction, sale or rent, commercial buildings will soon be required to have a valid EPC. Buildings occupied by public authorities and by institutions providing a public service with a floor space of greater than 1000m2 will need a DEC.

Climate Change Levy (CCL)
The Climate Change Levy (CCL) is an environmental energy tax introduced by the government in April 2001. It follows the Kyoto Protocol, where targets to reduce carbon emissions were set and agreed by the UK and other countries as part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The CCL is chargeable on the supply of gas and electricity. By working with you to improve energy efficiency, we can help reduce the impact of the CCL on your bottom line.
