The switching process

Step 1

Successful application

Day 1

  • You will receive an email confirming your application details if you applied online
  • You will receive a contract pack in the post in the next week

Step 2

Cooling off period

Day 11

  • You have a 10 calendar day cooling off period from the date your contract pack is sent out
  • Read through the easy-to-read contract terms carefully
  • If there's anything you don't understand you can contact your Sales Manager
  • You can decide to cancel within the 10 day cooling off period with no penalty

Step 3

Supply switch & set-up

Day 12

  • We contact the Electricity Central Online Enquiry Service (ECOES) and advise them we're taking over your commercial electricity supply
  • ECOES notifies your existing supplier that you are switching your electricity supply to British Gas Business
  • Checks and meter readings are carried out on your business electricity supply prior to switch over

Step 4

Successful connection

Day 28

  • Your site will now be on supply
  • You can now enjoy the benefits of your new business electricity supply. Your first bill will be sent out as agreed in your contract terms
