Green Streets 2009 is getting underway and we're looking for this year's inspired energy ambassadors to take part.

We're looking for community groups with innovative (but practical) ways to generate renewable energy or increase energy efficiency. Your community group doesn't have to be a formal organization - it could be a collaboration of local residents and the local pub or sports club. What matters is that you've got the ideas, and the drive to see your project through.

Our aim is to energise Great Britain's communities to reduce energy usage, cut carbon emissions and generate renewable energy from local sources.

Green street will provide funding and expertise to support participating communitie's energy ideas. Participants will benefit from project management and technology expertise from British Gas.

The chosen communities will compete against their own project specific targets, as well as common objectives, to have the chance of winning a prize worth up to £100,000.
