Low Carbon Building Programme

In December 2006, a microgeneration consortium headed by British Gas was announced as an accredited supplier for the Low Carbon Building Programme (LCBP) Phase 2*.

The LCBP Phase 2* is BERR's new £50m capital grant stream for the installation of microgeneration technologies for local housing authorities, housing associations, schools and other public sector buildings and charitable bodies. It is currently anticipated that funds will be committed through to mid-2009, but this will depend on the actual rate of applications.

The British Gas consortium brings together many of the leading technology providers in this sector. As an accredited supplier, microgeneration products offered under the British Gas consortium are eligible for grant funding of up to 50%.

Technologies available through this programme and associated grant funding levels are as follows:

Products Grants
Solar PV 50%
Ground Source Heat Pumps 50%
Biomass 50%
Wind 50%
Solar thermal 50%

Notes

* LCBP Phase 2 is not open to private households or commercial businesses.
