Council Tax Rebate Scheme

We are committed to working with local authorities to help residents save energy and money as well as helping the environment by improving home energy efficiency. One of the ways we are doing this is through our council tax rebate scheme.

Each household who invests in home insulation from British Gas under this scheme will receive a rebate of up to £125 from their local authority* and could see energy savings of around £365 a year through installing loft and cavity wall insulation^**.

So far we are working with 48 local councils

With your help, we want to lead the way in championing energy efficiency in your local area. One of the best ways to make homes more energy efficient is through loft and cavity wall insulation.

British Gas offer extremely competitive retail prices, a smooth installation process along with proven high levels of customer satisfaction.

Private households who purchase home insulation through British Gas in this scheme will receive:

• Up to £125 Council Tax Rebate^*
• Approximately £365 annual energy savings through installing both loft and cavity wall Insulation^**

Consumption of a 3 bed semi is based on typical industry average consumption assessed by DECC as being 18,241 kWh gas, 4013 KWh electricity. Individual savings may vary depending on type and age of home. Not all homes are suitable for additional insulation. When 'updating' existing insulation, savings will be reduced. Actual savings depend on individual circumstances.
