How can I change my Direct Debit payment amount?

If you pay a fixed amount each month by Direct Debit for gas, electricity or both, you can change your payment amount in your online account.

To change your payment online:

  1. Go to 'Manage your Direct Debit' in your account.
  2. Select 'Adjust monthly payment amount' from the left hand menu.
  3. Enter your new monthly payment amount and click 'Recalculate'.
  4. Check for any information messages and select 'Save'.
How can I find the ‘Manage your Direct Debit’ area manually?

To make sure your payment amount reflects the energy you are using, remember to
submit a meter reading online.

We try to set your Direct Debit payments to the right level to cover your predicted energy costs. We review this amount, usually twice a year to check it's accurate and to take into account any seasonal changes in your energy usage as most people use a lot more energy in the winter than the summer.

Any changes you make to your Direct Debit payments may lead to you building up a credit or debit balance on your account. This may mean the next time we review your Direct Debit payments we will recommend they change again as we aim for customers to end their payment plan year with a zero balance.

If you don't have an online account register now to change your payment amount online. You'll just need your customer reference number, which you'll find on any of your bills or statements, and your email address.
