I have a pay as you go meter and have no gas, what should I do?

If you have a pay as you go meter and have no gas, there are a few checks you can carry out to determine what has happened.

 

  Problem   What to do
My meter has switched off If the meter has switched off then you have run out of emergency credit. Ensure all appliances are switched off. We recommend you top up at least £15 to pay back the emergency credit and have credit available for gas. Once you have topped up, insert the card and follow the on screen instructions.
I have credit on my meter and I have an error message If you have an error message on your meter then you may be able to solve this using our error message help.
I have credit on my meter and I have a 'Card Fail' message If you have this message on your meter then you need a new gas card , find out how to get a new card now.
The meter is on, I have credit on my meter and there is no error message
  • Check your gas appliances are turned on.
  • Check if you have credit and there's no error message on your meter.
  • Turn off all appliances and call gas emergency services on 0800 111 999.
