Central Heating

Central Heating is a means of heating your home from one central source i.e. a boiler. The boiler heats water that is then 'pumped' to where it is required in your central heating. The type of boiler and fuel used can vary, however the end result is central heating for radiators and hot water. Choosing the right system is crucial in balancing energy efficiency with appropriate capacity for your home.

Central heating for radiators and hot water is controlled via a set of controls, which usually includes a clock or programmer, plus room thermostats and thermostatic radiator valves. These ensure that heating and hot water operate at a suitable time and temperature to ensure comfort and reduce any wastage from your central heating.

In general, gas central heating is the still most popular form of central heating used in the UK. Gas heating offers the ultimate in controllability and tends to be less expensive than central heating systems with an electric boiler due to the lower fuel costs, particularly gas central heating systems powered by a modern, high efficiency boiler.

How you can improve your system's efficiency

To work at its best, your central heating system needs clean water flowing through its pumps, pipes and radiators. When sludge and other deposits build up, they create blockages that force the pump to work harder. This can mean you waste energy, and pay more to heat your home and water.

Before installing a new boiler we will determine the most appropriate method to cleanse your system, using either PowerCleanse or PowerFlush, and for long term reliability we will also install a MagnaClean filter.

This involves attaching a cleansing machine to your system and circulating a cleansing agent through pipes and radiators to loosen and rinse out the impurities. The resultant waste is removed to a suitable exterior drain. Then as part of our normal commissioning process the boiler will also receive a 'hot and cold' flush to remove any impurities left behind by the installation process. Finally the system will be filled with fresh water and a chemical inhibitor added which is designed to reduce future corrosion and sediment build up.

Why PowerFlush™ is right for you

PowerFlush™ works by pumping a special cleaner through the system to break down sludge. On its way round the water passes through a device to remove iron magnate, sludge and other impurities, so only filtered water returns to the system. Once the system, has been flushed, we can fit MagnaClean to stop problems recurring.

Advantages include increased energy efficiency, lower bills, a system that last longer and increased radiator efficiency.

MagnaClean® Professional-Included with all installations

After installing your new boiler/ system we want to keep your system protected and this is done by installing a MagnaClean® magnetic filter.

The MagnaClean® is fitted onto the pipework of the system and captures iron oxide, preventing large deposits forming on internal components. Our engineer can then clean out the filter during your Annual Service, so it can carry on protecting your system for years.
