Solar Thermal
How solar heating works
Solar Thermal Panels harness rays of sunlight and uses them to heat water. They attach to your roof and use a clever heat transfer system to pass heat from the sun directly into the water in your cylinder. Even with UK weather, a solar thermal panel could provide around 50% to 70% of a typical home's hot water needs, because they don't rely on direct sunlight to work. They can even work during the winter.
Most homes will need to be fitted with a special type of hot water tank as part of any solar thermal system. It is therefore best to consider solar thermal panels when you are undergoing renovations to your home or central heating system.
