Your installation step-by-step

Buying a new boiler or central heating from British Gas – or thinking about it? If so, here’s a step-by-step guide to what to expect.

1. Book an appointment

First, request an appointment for your free no obligation quote at a time that suits you. We confirm the time, the date and the name of the Heating Sales Advisor coming to see you.

2. Your appointment

Appointments last about 90 minutes , during which your Heating Sales Advisor (HSA) will carry out an energy assessment of your property and your current heating system. Using technology unique to British Gas, your HSA will then calculate how much a new central heating system could save you on your heating bills.
They will then talk you through a detailed quotation and discuss other relevant options, such as Flexible Finance and any special offers we may be running.

3. Your survey

In certain cases your HSA may arrange for a surveyor to visit your home and assess its suitability for the heating solution he has in mind.

4. Confirming the installation

If you’re happy with our quotation and would like to proceed, your HSA will arrange a convenient time for us to carry out the installation. We’ll then confirm that date to you in writing.

5. Delivering the materials

To be absolutely certain that our engineers can concentrate on their job and to avoid delays, we deliver the materials needed a day or two beforehand.

6. Installing your new boiler or central heating

The highly trained engineers that install your new boiler or central heating – and related products such as showers or fires – are all qualified to CORGI standard and above. Their work is carried out to the highest safety standards and with minimum disruption to you and your home. Our engineers pride themselves on being friendly and polite – and they always tidy up after themselves.

7. Complimentary aftercare

All our newly installed boilers and central heating systems include one year’s free HomeCare 200. So your whole heating system – boiler, radiators, pipes and controls – is taken care of, even if you’ve only bought a new boiler. There’s a 24-hour helpline, 5,500 highly qualified engineers on hand, unlimited call outs, and parts and labour included.
