British Gas has joined up with Climate Care, an environmental organisation committed to tackling climate change, to bring you our latest environmental offering "Climate Aware".

Climate Aware allows you the opportunity to offset your home's previous 12 month's carbon emissions from as little as £30^* for the year, giving you the peace of mind that your home is carbon neutral and that you are doing your bit for the environment and to reduce climate change. Your contribution will be used by Climate Care to help fund environmental projects around the world that reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by the same amount you use, making your gas and electricity carbon neutral.

Once you have offset your carbon emissions, you will also have the opportunity to get your home more energy efficient with our online Energy Savers Report, which, as well as advising on ways you could save money on your energy bills, it can also advise on how you could reduce your carbon emissions for the next 12 months.

What you will need to apply

To receive Climate Aware and offset your previous 12 months energy carbon emissions you will need to have a copy of your gas and electricity account reference numbers to hand^**.

* The average amount of carbon produced in a dual fuel (Gas and Electricity) household is 5 tonnes and the premium to offset carbon emissions is £32.50).
(Based on 20,500kWh for gas and 3,300kWh for electricity on a 67:33 split).

** You will find this on a copy of your bill. It will be 10 digits for your electricity and 13 digits for your Gas. You will also need a credit card to hand.
