For customers who decide to use our prepayment energy services, we have devised a simple system to make topping up your credit as easy as it possibly can be.

Here at British Gas we offer an exclusive service known as Home Energy Top Up, but what is it and how does it make using pay as you go meters easier?

What is Home Energy Top Up from British Gas?

Home Energy Top Up is an exclusive service offered by us here at British Gas. This is an online service which allows you to add credit to your key/card for your energy services from the comfort of your own home.

How does it work?

The system is only available to those who have received our exclusive Home Energy Top Up connector. This plugs into the USB port of your computer and acts like a card reader for your energy card/key.

Once you have inserted your card/key into the connector you can then visit our dedicated Home Energy Top Up webpage to enter your payment details. Once this has been approved we will credit your account, allowing you to remove your card/key from the connector and begin using it.

How much does it cost?

In order to take advantage of this service you must first register for it. After this, we will send you everything you need to get started, including the Home Energy Top Up connector.

For customers who top up within 30 days of being sent the starter pack, the cost of the connector will be free. The service itself is free to use and can be used for both gas and electricity services.

Those customers who do not top up within the set time period will be charged a single fee of £10 for each connector.[1]

What are the benefits of Home Energy Top Up?

There are many benefits of our exclusive Home Energy Top Up service, as you get increased flexibility and more convenient services at home with the option to top up elsewhere. This also means no more compulsory late night trips to the shops to top up your energy.

As an online service, our Home Energy Top Up system can be accessed at any time of the day or night and this means you will never be left without these services. Overall, the service is more accessible, fitting seamlessly around your lifestyle rather than disrupting it.
