You'll collect Nectar points just for having an Energy or Insurance & Repair account with us. And there are lots of ways you can collect bonus points too.

Just for being a Dual Fuel customer and submitting your quarterly meter reads.*

[1] 50 points are awarded for your gas, 50 points for your electricity and 100 points for Dual Fuel. All points are awarded quarterly.

You'll collect 50 points every quarter for each fuel.
That is a total of 200 points every year, for either gas or electricity.
Bonus points for having Dual Fuel.*
Collect this Dual Fuel bonus for having both your gas and electricity with us.
You'll collect 100 Dual Fuel bonus points every quarter, in addition to the 50 points you collect for your gas and 50 points you collect for your electricity.
That's a total of 200 points every quarter or 800 points every year just for being a Dual Fuel customer.[1]

Annual Customer Bonus

Collect 250 bonus points for each account you switch to paperless billing.
You can collect 250 points when you switch to paperless billing for each energy account you have with us.
Points will be added to your account 14 days after you make the switch. These points can only be collected once during your contract for each account.

You can collect 800 points when you switch to Direct Debit online for each energy, or maintenance insurance and repair account you have with us.

Submit your quarterly meter reading
100 points per quarter for each account.*
Collect 400 bonus points a year for submitting your meter reading.
You’ll collect 100 points for each quarterly meter reading you give us, for each separate energy account you have. You can submit your meter reading to us online, via SMS, or by using our automated phone system.
100 points per meter reading will be added to your account 14 days after you give us the reading and can only be collected once every 90 days.
Submit your monthly EnergySmart™ meter reading
100 points each month you submit a reading.*
Collect up to 1200 points a year for your EnergySmart™ meter readings.
You’ll collect 100 points for each monthly meter reading you give us, for each separate energy account you have. You can submit your meter reading to us online, via SMS, or by using our automated phone system.
100 points per meter reading will be added to your account 14 days after you give us the reading and can only be collected once for each month (30 day billing cycle).

HomeCare™ cover
25 points each quarter.*
You'll collect 50 points every quarter. That is a total of 100 points every year, just for being a HomeCare 100 - £50 excess™ customer.
You'll collect 50 points every quarter. That is a total of 200 points every year, just for being a HomeCare 100, 200 & 200 - £50 excess™ customer.
You'll collect 100 points every quarter. That is a total of 400 points every year, just for being a HomeCare 300, 300 - £50 excess & 400 - £50 excess™ customer.
You'll collect 150 points every quarter. That is a total of 600 points every year, just for being a HomeCare 400™ customer.
Central Heating Cover™
You'll collect 10 points every quarter. That is a total of 40 points every year, just for being a Priority Response™ customer.
Central Heating Breakdown Cover™
50 points each quarter. An additional 50 points per quarter for a 2nd appliance covered.*
You'll collect 50 points every quarter. That is a total of 200 points every year, just for being a Central Heating Breakdown Cover™ customer. Plus you could collect another 50 points per quarter for a second appliance covered.

You'll collect 25 points for every quarter. That is a total of 100 points every year, just for being a Home Electrical Cover - £50 excess™ customer.

Gas Appliance Cover ™
You'll collect 10 points for every quarter. That is a total of 40 points every year, just for being a Gas Appliance Cover - £50 excess™ customer.

Maintenance and Repair bookings
You'll collect these points for booking a Boiler Breakdown visit. You'll be awarded 200 points 14 days after our engineer has completed your repair.
You'll collect these points for booking an Annual Service visit online. You'll be awarded 200 points 14 days after our engineer has completed your Annual Service.

Frequently asked questions
How do I collect Nectar points with British Gas?
As long as you have an energy or insurance and repair account with us (for example: gas, electricity, HomeCare 100™, Kitchen appliance cover or Plumbing & drains cover) you will automatically collect points every quarter. So the more qualifying products you have, the more points you will collect.
You will be able to collect more Nectar points with British Gas by taking out new products and services or doing small things like registering for paperless billing or giving us a quarterly meter read.

How can I spend my Nectar points?
You can spend your Nectar points in 4 simple categories - Travel, Food and Drink, Home and Entertainment:
Swipe at the till
With some Nectar retailers you can simply tell the cashier how many points you would like to spend and then hand over your card. Swipe with brands such as Argos, Homebase, Sainsbury's and Vue Cinemas.
Order online
You can spend your points online with Amazon.co.uk, Philips and Laithwaites Wine. Go to the Nectar website. Choose where you'd like to spend your points and then follow the simple instructions.
Call the Nectar helpline
If you would like to travel you can spend your points with easyJet, Eurostar and Expedia.co.uk. Just call Nectar direct on 0844 811 0811 and select Option 3.

It's really easy to start collecting points. If you have a British Gas Energy or Insurance & repair account (for example; gas, electricity, Kitchen appliance cover, HomeCare 100™ or Plumbing & drains cover etc), all you have to do is link your Nectar card to your British Gas account. You can do this using any of these options:
- Online now
- By calling our automated telephone number on 0800 107 0185.
- By returning the coupon in your energy bill.
Just have your Nectar card number along with your name, address and British Gas customer reference number.
Once you've linked your Nectar card to your British Gas account, you will start collecting Nectar points with us.
Please note: You will not be able to register to collect Nectar points with British Gas by contacting Nectar direct.
How many points do I have with British Gas?
You will be able to view your Nectar points balance by signing into your online account.
If you don't have an online account, your Nectar points balance will also be shown on your energy bill, Annual Statement and on other operational communications you may receive from us.
You will also be able to view the Nectar points you have collected with British Gas on your quarterly Nectar statement or online at the Nectar website.
How do I register if I don't have a Nectar card?
If you don't have a Nectar card you can order a card with us. We will give you the card number and you'll be able to collect points straightaway.
Your Nectar card will then be sent to you in the post which usually takes 14 working days to arrive. You can request a card online now or call us on 0800 048 0202*.
You can also pick a new card up in-store at Sainsbury's, BP petrol stations or Homebase.
