With rising energy prices we all want to save money where we can and British Gas are making it easier than ever to do so with their new Smart Meters.
These Smart Meters are wireless and whilst energy and gas may not be the most exciting thing on your agenda the fact that you can wirelessly see how much energy you are using and how you can save money is pretty cool and turns the mundane and boring into something a little bit more interesting. It even wirelessly sends the data back to British Gas!
Some of us here have Smart Meters already and its surprising to see what savings you can make just by switching your PC off over night etc. Supplying millions across the UK British Gas could well be your energy supplier and they want to help save you money and avoid the need for estimated billing and better understand what costs what in your home.
If you live on a budget then this is perfect as you can see what you are using at any one time, no waiting until the end of the month or constantly taking meter readings. Even if you don’t live on a budget you will be shocked when you see some of the figures live on screen, like what leaving those extra lights on and filling the kettle full of water for just 1 cup!
The meters are free and are already installed in over 185,000 homes in the UK and British Gas are committing to all customers having one by 2019.
That’s all pretty good, but what the best bit? British Gas are working to allow you to control this all from your computer and your phone!
