Transfer Your British Gas Accounts Transfer

It will take 15 minutes to complete this transfer process.
Before starting, make sure you have the following information to hand, as you'll need it during the transfer process:

  • Your old and new addresses
  • A British Gas customer/membership number
  • Meter readings (for gas or electricity account transfers)
       (for both old and new addresses if possible)
  • A contact telephone number


Please note that you can only transfer products to a new
address, you cannot transfer your accounts into a new name.

If your new property is supplied by British Gas and you want this to continue, your account at the new property will normally take 28 days to be set up. If the address is currently supplied by another company, it may take a little longer - possibly up to 6 weeks. We will write to you to let you know the exact date that your supply will start with British Gas.

Customer/Membership number

Please provide a British Gas customer or membership number. This could be your gas, electricity or HomeCare membership number. We will use this number to retrieve any other accounts you may have.
