The Carbon Trust 100% renewable label

Providing a clear visual signal of assurance

Our Renewable Electricity for Business product carries the Carbon Trust 100% renewable label. This label gives your customers and stakeholders a clear visual signal that helps you verify the origin of your renewable electricity as part of your sustainability reporting requirements.

*100% of the electricity supplied is renewable, backed by certificates of renewable energy guarantees of origin. Emission factor compliant with the GHG Protocol Scope 2 guidance and to be used for the 'market-based method'.

Green credentials are important for any large corporation and an easy way to establish these is with one of our independently-certified renewable contracts.

If you choose our Renewable Electricity for Business product you won’t see any difference in your power supply but every megawatt-hour of electricity you use will be matched with the same volume of renewable energy supplied to the grid.

This is achieved by matching renewable energy guarantee of origin certificates to your bill consumption and enables you to report zero grams CO2 per kWh from purchased electricity using the market-based reporting method, in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Scope 2 guidance.

Why choose certified renewable electricity?

  • Trust and confidence

The Carbon Trust certification allows us to guarantee that the electricity supplied is 100% backed by certificates of renewable energy guarantee of origin. It also supports us in ensuring that these certificates are valid and exclusive to your business.

  • Raising the standard

The Carbon Trust certification helps to raise the standard of renewable energy products throughout the energy industry, inspiring a greater confidence in a low-carbon future and awareness of climate change.

  • Accurate reporting

Renewable Electricity for Business is built in accordance with the GHG Protocol Scope 2 Guidance meaning you have everything you need to accurately report your emissions. We also publish an emissions factor for our conventional electricity product so that everyone has the figures they need for accurate carbon emissions reporting.

Do you report GHG emissions?

From 2019 all large UK businesses will need to report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in their annual reports. All listed companies are already required to do this and many other organisations report voluntarily.

The GHG Protocol sets the global standard on how to measure, manage and report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It was developed by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council on Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

In 2015 an amendment was published for the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, updating the accounting and reporting guidelines for purchased electricity, heat, steam or cooling (known as scope 2 emissions).

This amendment allows companies to report using a market-based method that recognises the purchase of renewable energy and the impact this has.

The Carbon Trust certified Renewable Electricity for Business product is available for large business customers spending over £300,000 a year on energy and on a fixed-term contract. Subject to availability and terms and conditions.
