Short term operating reserve
Generating income from your standby generator plant
When demand spikes occur in the electricity grid, it’s often easier to draw on extra supplies from small local generators, rather than bringing on another major power station.
With Short Term Operating Reserve (STOR) programme, you give the National Grid access to your standby generators, and receive money in return. In fact, you’ll get paid twice - one regular amount just for being on standby, and an extra top-up whenever your electricity is needed.
We’ll handle all the contract negotiations with National Grid and take care of the engineering work too – including connecting you to our STOR control centre.
Managing STOR for you
Our experienced STOR service includes everything from installing the equipment and controls (which remotely start and synchronise your generators to the grid), to contracts and paperwork.
