Distributed Energy and Power

Distributed Energy and Power (DE&P) can help your business measure energy, control it and create it

Advantages of distributed energy

 Save money

  • Creating energy on site means you could buy less and avoid network and transmission charges.

Green credentials

  • Reduce your carbon footprint and hit green targets, helping the environment and your reputation.

Supply security

  • Improve site resilience, reduce dependency on the National Grid and cut exposure to price changes.

Helping the nation

  • Distributed energy can ease peaks in demand on the National Grid and help the UK’s energy security.

What's distributed energy?

Power creation on your premises

Distributed energy refers to the decentralisation of power generation and transmission.

Under the distributed energy model, businesses act as mini-generators of their own power. This can supply some or all of their energy needs. It’s also possible to sell excess power back to the National Grid.

Distributed energy opens up the possibility of radical change from the traditional, centralised UK energy model. Under this set-up, the country’s energy needs are met by large power plants which feed the National Grid, using fuels such as gas, coal and nuclear.

How we can help

Measure, control and create energy

Our Distributed Energy team use expert insight and innovative technology to help you take control of your business energy. We’ll look at:

  • Your current energy set-up
  • Where savings and efficiencies can be made
  • Where the business could be creating energy
We'll compare your sites to others of a similar profile and help you take advantage of emerging technologies in the areas of energy efficiency and production.
Solutions could range from using the right lightbulbs on your premises to helping you plan for major power generation on site. Options could include, but are not restricted to:
  • LED lightbulbs
  • Solar power
  • HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning)
  • Rescheduling energy use
  • Wireless sensors
  • Back-up generators
  • Energy storage systems
