Use less electricity than normal during the session to earn a reward.
Taking part in Peak Save sessions
- You must sign up to the session to be eligible for a reward.
- Use less electricity than normal during the session to earn credit towards your bill. The target is to use around 30% less, but the more you save the bigger your reward.
- Big appliances like washing machines and tumble dryers tend to use the most electricity, as do electric showers, heaters and cookers.
- We’ll aim to email you within 7 working days to tell you how you did. Rewards are automatically credited to your electricity account. You won’t need to do anything.
Frequently asked questions
How do you know how much electricity I’m using during a session?
Your smart meter will tell us. When you sign up for a Peak Save session, you agree to let us take a smart meter reading every 30 minutes so we can monitor exactly how much electricity you’re using.
What if I can’t use less electricity for the whole session?
We understand that you might not be able to use less electricity than normal throughout an entire session, but even small reductions for short periods of time can earn you a reward.
Sessions are divided into 30-minute periods. So if you use less electricity than normal for just half an hour out of a 4-hour event, you’ll still be rewarded for what you saved during that half an hour.
And because even small savings make a difference, we’ll make sure you always earn at least £1 for every session you save.
What happens if there is a problem with my smart meter?
If you opt-in to an event but for any reason we’re unable to retrieve your smart meter data to calculate your consumption, for example, if your meter stops sending us readings, we’ll pay you at the event price (£/kWh) multiplied by your turn-down target (kWh).
And like all Peak Save payments, we’ll then double that reward as a special thanks for taking part.
If we’re consistently unable to retrieve half hour usage data from your meter, we can remove you from the Peak Save scheme. We’ll write to you to let you know if this happens.
If you are experiencing problems with your meter, please see our Help pages.
How will I know when I’ve been paid?
You’ll see the payment show up as ‘Peak Save Credit’ on your electricity bill or online statement.
