        How long does an appointment with a heating adviser last?

        Video call appointments last around 30 minutes and in-home appointments will last about 90 minutes.

        Do I need to prepare anything for my video call appointment?

        During the video call, your heating adviser will ask you to show them the area around the boiler – and also some of the pipework around your house. To make sure you can do this easily and safely, please clear the area of obstacles and take special care to remove any trip hazards.

        How do I change the date of my heating adviser appointment?

        Can I speak to someone about buying a new boiler?

        Absolutely. If you want to choose and order your boiler online, it’s possible to do it all on this website. But if you prefer to talk to one of our heating advisers, call us on 0333 202 9450 – Mon - Fri, 8am - 6pm and Sat, 9am - 5pm (with limited opening hours over public holidays).

        We want to improve our service for you, so we may record your call to help. Calls to 0330/0333 numbers will cost you no more than 01 or 02 numbers from landlines and mobiles. If you get 'inclusive minutes' with your package, calls to 0330/0333 numbers will be part of these.

        How long does it take to install a replacement boiler?

        Installing a new boiler usually takes anything from 1-3 days. The length of time varies depending on a few different factors:

        Is your new boiler the same type as your old boiler? If so, this will make installation more straightforward. If your old boiler was a combi, for example, it’s simpler and quicker to replace it with a new combi. Changing to a different type of boiler involves extra work for the engineer.

        Is your new boiler in the same place as your old boiler? Again, this will make installation simpler and quicker. Relocating a boiler creates extra work, such as changing the pipework.

        How much does it cost to install a replacement boiler?

        With British Gas, installation is always included in the price of your new boiler. Whether you’re ordering online or through one of our heating advisers, give us all the details and we’ll give you one easy to understand quote.

        How much does a boiler service cost?

        When you get a new boiler installed with British Gas, your first year’s annual service is included as part of the package.

        But if you’re looking for a one-off boiler service for your current boiler, British Gas prices start from £85. You can find out more about it here.
