How British Gas Repair and Cover works
1. Book your appointment
This is super simple to do online, whenever you want. Just tell us where you are and a bit about your heating system and we'll show you the time slots available. Pick the one that suits you best and we'll book you in.
There's no upfront fee. You just pick your cover from either £27.50 a month with £60 excess or £35 a month with £0 excess. All parts and labour are included too. Then that's it – your repair is scheduled, and you're protected for another year.
2. Experts when you need them
Our engineer will call ahead to let you know when they're on the way. They'll work out what's needed and carry out your repair. In some cases they might not have all the parts and will need to come back the next day to complete the job.
3. Relax, you're covered
Once everything's back up and running again, you don't need to worry about being without heating or hot water again. Your Central Heating Breakdown cover kicks in and you get 12 months of unlimited call-outs and repairs. We'll even replace it if we can't fix it.

What should I do if I already have HomeCare?
If you already have HomeCare for your heating, you can go ahead and book your repair from your online account. You don’t need to choose the One-off Repair or Fix for Free options.
Do you fix every type of boiler?
Our engineers fix single natural gas or liquid petroleum gas boilers or warm air units designed for home use.
What if I have more than one problem?
The initial repair doesn’t include any unrelated faults. We’ll quote separately for other work needed for unrelated faults. This may happen if, for example, you’ve called us about a boiler breakdown but also ask us to fix a leaking radiator.
What if I want to cancel my initial repair?
If we haven't started work on your boiler, you can contact us to cancel your repair, and we'll also cancel your cover at the same time.
If we’ve already started the work and you want to cancel the repair, we'll also cancel the cover, and you may have to pay a cancellation charge for the work completed – see terms and conditions for details.
What if I want to cancel my ongoing cover?
You can cancel your Central Heating Breakdown Cover at any time, whether during the 14-day cooling-off period or afterwards. However, if we've done any work for you then you'll have to pay cancellation charges.
Your call out history is taken into account at renewal.
