Mark Hodges

As a Board member of Centrica plc, he leads the group’s consumer energy, services and technology businesses worldwide. These include British Gas in the UK, Bord Gáis in Ireland, Direct Energy in North America, and Centrica’s global connected home brand, Hive.

Under Mark’s leadership, Centrica Consumer is focused on meeting the changing needs of our customers through excellent customer service, driving growth through innovation and being as efficient as possible.

Mark has a deep understanding of consumer markets and extensive experience of improving business performance.  He has a track record of driving significant improvements in customer service, efficiency, innovation, IT and business transformation, in businesses under high regulatory and political scrutiny.

His background in leading large customer-facing businesses includes more than 20 years at Norwich Union and Aviva plc, where he served as UK Chief Executive.

Before joining Centrica, Mark spent four years as Group CEO of Towergate Partnership, the specialist insurance broker.

He took up his current role in June 2015.

Mark also serves as a Director of the energy industry body, Energy UK.

He is married to Julie, and has four children.

Matthew Bateman

Matthew Bateman is Managing Director of Residential Services at British Gas running the Service and Repair, Central Heating Installations (CHI) and Electrical Services business units.

He leads British Gas’ 16,000-strong services team, including 10,000 engineers, serving 4 million homes across the country. Matthew also heads our skills and apprenticeship programmes.

He is responsible for Dyno-Rod, a British Gas company with 50 years of experience in drains, repairs and plumbing.

Matthew has worked for British Gas for 17 years in roles across Residential Energy and British Gas Business. Most recently, he has been Managing Director of the Central Heating Installations business, and of the Service and Repair division.

Before joining British Gas, Matthew worked for London Electricity. He holds a degree in Financial Management.

Sarwjit Sambhi

Sarwjit Sambhi is the Managing Director, UK Home, responsible for the 22 million British Gas domestic accounts. Sarwjit has been with Centrica since 2002.

Previous roles at Centrica include Managing Director for the Exploration & Production business at Centrica Energy, covering operations in the UK, Netherlands, Norway, Canada and Trinidad.

Sarwjit has a MEng degree from Cambridge University. He is a chartered engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology and a Fellow of the Energy Institute. Sarwjit sits on the Investment Committee for Ignite, a social enterprise fund.

Ivan is the Finance Director for our Energy Supply and Services division in the UK and Ireland, and is also responsible for our global Connected Home business.
 
Under the UK Leadership team, British Gas is focused on delivering excellent customer service, driving growth through innovation and keeping costs down.  Ivan has a strong background in financial management in AstraZeneca where he worked in the UK, Sweden and the US and at IMI where has was Group Financial Controller from 2011 through to 2017.  Ivan has a strong track record in driving performance and delivering large scale change initiatives in finance, efficiency, IT, supply chain and business transformation. 
 
He took up his current role in April 2017.

Ash Jokhoo

Ash Jokhoo is VP Technology for UK, Ireland & Connected Home.

Responsible for our digital interaction with customers, he aligns technology and innovation with the changing needs of the consumer to deliver exciting new propositions, and world class service.

Before joining Centrica in June 2012, Ash spent a decade driving change across the Telecommunications and Financial Services industries – most recently with roles at British Telecom, TalkTalk and Tiscali.

Ash has a strong background in disruption and innovation within organisations, having lead both IT and business transformations, for the benefit of the customer.

He now has oversight of all accounts and systems that support Energy Supply and Services across the UK and Ireland.  

Ash holds a BSc Hons in Engineering Product Design.

 

Carol Frost

Carol Frost is HR Director UK, Ireland & Connected Home. Carol joined Energy Supply & Services in February 2016 having spent the previous year working in a private equity backed Oil and Gas business where she was responsible for HR and Public Affairs for operations in Kazakhstan and Norway. The external oil price environment challenged the company’s growth plans, which led to Carol’s return to Centrica.

Carol’s career at Centrica began in 2010 when she joined as HR Director for the Power Generation business. She quickly made an impact by changing the focus of the HR team, ‘putting people at the heart of everything we do’. In July 2011 she was promoted to the role of HR Director, Centrica Energy, where she concentrated on driving business performance through cultural change and building a great place to work. This included launching a programme called ‘The CE Way’.

Before joining Centrica, Carol spent nine years working for BG Group as an HR generalist in number of roles in the UK and internationally. She started her career in HR with Thames Water as an HR specialist on their Graduate Training Scheme.

Carol holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Human Studies, and an MA in Industrial Relations, and she is a qualified executive coach.

Raj Roy

Raj Roy was appointed as General Counsel, UK & Ireland, on 1 March 2017.

Prior to this, Raj was Legal Director for Residential Energy and Homecare Insurance and Services at British Gas – responsible for consumer affairs, competition, financial services regulation and data privacy.  

He has extensive experience of managing regulators and enabling businesses to be well-prepared internally for external challenges.  During his time at British Gas, he led British Gas' first ever legal challenge to an Ofgem decision and more recently has been heavily involved in managing the implications of the CMA's investigation into the energy market.

Before joining Centrica, Raj was at Vodafone for nine years where he served most recently as Lead Counsel for Regulatory Affairs where his portfolio included competition law, telecoms regulation and privacy.  In that capacity, he led Vodafone’s regulatory litigation on a number of strategic issues, including switching processes and interconnection charge controls and managed the process that secured regulatory approval for Vodafone’s ground-breaking network sharing collaboration with Telefonica.

Gab Barbaro

Gab is responsible for British Gas Business (BGB), the division serving almost half a million businesses across 900,000 locations with energy supplies and energy services.

BGB helps customers manage their energy, providing gas and electricity as well as a full range of energy efficiency services, from new boilers to large-scale installations such as solar panels and ground source heat pumps.

It's also the leader in smart meters, with over 400,000 installed.

BGB's 5,000 employees are based mainly in Leicester and Oxford, and include a 1,000-strong team of engineers.

Gab joined British Gas' parent group, Centrica plc, in 2009 as Head of Group Strategy. In 2012 he was appointed Managing Director of Business Services. Previously, Gab spent 10 years working in the energy industry in the UK and globally, as a strategy expert for Boston Consulting Group and Accenture.

Claire Miles

Claire Miles is Managing Director, UK Customer Operations. Claire joined British Gas in August 2010 after 14 years’ experience working in financial services, where she managed credit card businesses for HSBC, General Electric and Santander.

Claire began her career at British Gas as commercial director for the HomeCare business. In January 2013 she became managing director of British Gas Energy Efficiency (BGEE), with responsibility for delivering consumer energy efficiency obligations set by the Government.

At the end of 2014, Claire took up a new role in British Gas as managing director for HomeCare. In an industry that is often perceived as being male-dominated, Claire oversaw more than 10,000 employees, 65% of them engineers serving more than four million homes across the country, fixing boilers and central heating systems as well as home electrics, kitchen appliances, plumbing and drains.

Claire’s new role as Managing Director of UK Customer Operations places her in charge of all our contact centres and customer-facing agents, covering front and back office operations. She is on the Board of the technology start-up organisation, Green Running, and Northgate PLC, the leading commercial vehicle rental business in the UK and Spain.

Nina Bhatia

Nina Bhatia is Managing Director, Centrica Connected Home, responsible for the Hive brand that focuses on making smart home products and services accessible to everyone. Her key focus is on putting the customer at the heart of Centrica, and transforming the business through innovation.

Previously, Nina was Commercial Director at British Gas responsible for all brand, marketing, product development, digital, sales and insight. She also ran one of British Gas’s home services businesses delivering electrical, plumbing and drainage services across the UK, including the Dyno-Rod franchise.

Earlier, Nina worked in management consulting across multiple sectors and countries. She was a partner at McKinsey & Co serving clients globally. For over 20 years, she worked in various markets around the world, specialising in media, energy and healthcare.

Nina is on the Advisory Board of the Cambridge Judge Business School, and has served as a trustee on the Board of Save the Children International.
