New Jobs Announced – Case Study - Caroline Paulett, Cardiff

Caroline explaining: “When my former employer ceased trading in 2006, I initially took a job in my local pub but I knew it wasn’t for me. I wanted a role that would allow me to build a long-term career, so when I became aware of the roles available with British Gas, I jumped at the chance to apply."

Caroline applied to British Gas, and after successfully completing an assessment and passing an interview, secured an initial position as a Customer Service Advisor.

She continued: “When I was told I had secured the role at British Gas I was really pleased, and relieved to get a well-paid position with a reputable company that offers prospects for progression and real job security, particularly after a period of a great deal of uncertainty for me.

“Right from the beginning, I was given the support I needed to transfer into my new role and the confidence to apply my existing customer service skills in a completely new environment. And after just nine months I was able to progress from an advisor to become a graduation coach, and later a trainer.

“With the continued support of my colleagues and British Gas investment in developing my career, I’ve now successfully passed the company’s ‘Inspire’ leadership programme to become a team manager.

“In my eight years with British Gas I’ve seen first-hand how the company’s commitment to training and development helps its staff to achieve their career ambitions.

“Together with an excellent working environment, this dedication to supporting its team to succeed means I’d recommend a role with British Gas to anyone.”
