Midland Heart awards long-term repairs and maintenance partnership to PH Jones

Midland Heart, one of the top ten housing and care organisations in the UK, has renewed its long-term housing repairs and maintenance contract with PH Jones, a heating repairs and installation provider specialising in the social housing sector.

Midland Heart and PH Jones have worked successfully together over the past ten years, ensuring that 4,500 customers’ homes are maintained to a high standard. The new contract will see PH Jones increase this number to over 20,000 properties across the Midlands.

Their team of local installation and maintenance engineers will also provide a wider range of services, including annual gas safety checks, routine and emergency maintenance and replacements of customer’s boilers and central heating systems.

The decision comes after a competitive tender process which assessed companies against their ability to deliver a high quality tailored service, value for money and a positive impact in the community. Part of the tender was evaluated by Midland Heart customers. PH Jones secured the contract after offering to provide local apprenticeship and job skills training, as well as introducing improved methods of communication to customers including a mobile based app to help customers track service visits.

PH Jones, which is part of British Gas, will provide 24 of its engineers in the Midlands to support the new contract, plus a number of installation engineers to reflect demand. The company will also create ten apprenticeships in the area, five of which will be offered through the ‘Back On Track’ project. Over the next five years, the company hopes to train the apprentices in gas boiler installation and maintenance.
