British Gas chooses Croydon to trial new online home repairs service

29th February 2016: British Gas has developed a new online service to provide home owners with an easy way to manage home repairs, and has chosen residents in Croydon to test it.

The new service, called Local Heroes, has been designed to alleviate the stress that can be caused after something has gone wrong and the homeowner invites an unknown person to fix it, with no guarantee of reliability or cost.

Local Heroes works by putting Croydon residents in touch with a British Gas-accredited local tradesperson online. On the website the homeowner can quickly describe the problem and be provided with an instant quote. A Local Hero is found within 10 minutes. All worked is guaranteed by British Gas for a period of 12 months, and payment is only taken once the job is complete.

 

The trial in Croydon will focus exclusively on people who are in need of a plumber. Jobs will initially be carried out by Dyno engineers based in the borough, with other accredited local tradespeople to be included later in the trial.   The trial will run for a period of around three months and other home services will be added in the future
