Dyno's West London Chinchilla Thriller

  • Sooty the pet chinchilla disappears, leading mum to call plumbing and drains experts
  • Specialist CCTV camera used to help locate pet inside the home
  • Dyno engineer retrieves pet after a 90-minute search

12th May 2016: Dyno engineer Jordan Baker, who usually spends his time helping to fix customers’ problems with plumbing and drains, was called to a unique emergency in Richmond, West London, when a pet chinchilla went missing.

Richmond resident, Justine Panay, gave Dyno a call after her son Tom’s one-year-old pet chinchilla, Sooty, made a dash for freedom through a hole behind the toilet.

Justine had used the services of Dyno and their CCTV cameras for some previous work on her home. Remembering how helpful they were in locating troublesome spots, Justine contacted Dyno to search for and rescue the furry escapee.

After extensive searches behind the toilet, microwave and dishwasher in the kitchen, Justine and Tom thought Sooty was lost forever. However, not being one to give up easily, engineer Jordan suggested one last check a little further into the kitchen wall, where thanks to the specialist camera he found Sooty was holed up behind the kitchen cabinets.

It took a further 90 minutes of coaxing before Sooty was brought to safety.

Speaking about the rescue, Justine Panay said: “I can’t say enough about Jordan, he was amazing.

“Tom’s in the middle of his GSCE’s and loosing Sooty would have been devastating”.

Dyno engineer Jordan Baker commented: “It might not be in the training manual, but we’re always ready for anything at Dyno.”
