Have you been switched without your consent?

If you think you have been transferred to British Gas without your consent, we promise to work with your old supplier to sort out the matter as quickly as possible. Within 5 working days of you contacting us, we'll write to explain what we're doing to return you to your original supplier. We'll also try to explain why the mistake happened. Within 20 working days, we'll let you know when you'll be switched back to your old supplier. And don't worry, you'll only pay once for any energy you've used.

What happens next?

We aim to get you on supply in around two and a half weeks from the day you agreed your contract with us.



Step 1

Your contract email will confirm your tariff, rates, payment choice and supply start date (where possible).



Step 2

We'll contact and work with your old supplier to arrange your switch to us.



Step 3

We'll ask you to send us your opening meter reading, to make sure you only pay for the energy you use.

If you have a pay as you go meter your meter device will be sent to you along with a guide to your meter.



Step 4

We'll set up your British Gas account and you'll be up and running.
