Five things we learned at the Ideal Home Show Scotland

  • How to future proof your home
  • Brain food – the smart food scale that gives real time info

Scotland’s Ideal Home Show opens this week, at Glasgow’s SECC. The event runs from 22–25 May and offers visitors a feast of DIY tips, brilliant products and home improvement ideas.

From how to build your own home from scratch to integrating the latest connected home devices, you’ll find inspiration at every turn.

Here’s a preview of five clever technologies showcased at the event.

1. The ultimate smart home

The all-complete Ideal Smart Home. The home is divided into living spaces and is fully equipped with all the gadgets and gizmos you could ever want, from smart kitchen appliances to remote mood lighting.

2. Play hard, sleep hard

Withings Aura

The Withings Aura device combines a soft sensor that is tucked under your mattress or sofa with a smartphone app. It tracks the quality of your sleep, the room temperature, light and noise - all with the aim of getting you the best night’s sleep.

3. The Prep Pad

Prep Pad

This smart food scale discreetly sits on your kitchen table and gives you real-time nutrition information, recipes and a calorie count of anything you put on it.

4. The Future Proof Home

5. Picture or table - you choose
