2. Find a cheaper tariff
Click on 'Switch tariff' under the heading 'Tariff' and check to see if there’s one with 'Estimated saving'.
3. We do the rest
Once you’ve picked your tariff, we’ll get you switched over within 24 hours. There’s nothing else you need to do but enjoy the savings.

When can I change my energy tariff
If you’re on a:
Fixed tariff
We'll get in touch a month before your current tariff expires to choose a new tariff:
- No exit fees to pay in renewal window
- If you don't choose a new tariff, we'll automatically move you to our Standard Variable one when yours ends.
Standard Variable tariff
If you're on a Standard Variable tariff you can change to a fixed tariff at any time. Just log in to your online account a pick one of our available tariffs.
If you're on a Standard Variable tariff because you’ve moved into a new home that we supply:
- Tell us you’ve moved in, and set up an online account, you’ll be able to choose a new tariff.
Note: There's no fees to pay if you move from Standard Variable to another British Gas tariff.
