Here to HELP logoThe British Gas 'here to HELP' programme is a partnership with five major charities to help make one million homes warmer, safer and more comfortable. British Gas is investing up to £150 million to date, to benefit homes and communities across Britain.

The programme offers free insulation, a benefits assessment and other free products and services from our charity partners, depending on individual circumstances.

Local authorities and housing associations can also benefit from British Gas funding for energy efficiency products and other 'here to HELP' services for their communities.

The initiative has been given the Healthy Communities Award at the Business in the Community Awards for Excellence. In addition, the scheme won the Cause Related Marketing Award at the Marketing Society Awards for Excellence 2005.

What is Here to HELP?

It is a British Gas energy efficiency programme for British Gas customers who receive certain income or disability related Government benefits, or are over 70. It aims to help households keep their homes warmer and save money on their energy bills.

It offers a range of benefits which could include:

  • Free home insulation (loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, hot water tank jackets)
  • Free benefits health checks, which make sure customers are receiving all the Government benefits to which they are entitled


Who is eligible for help?

It is available to British Gas customers who are homeowners or rent privately, who are over 70, or are receiving one of the following Government benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Housing Benefit
  • Council Tax Benefit
  • Pension Credit
  • Income-based Job Seekers Allowance
  • War Disablement Pension
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Disablement pension
