British Gas has been awarded the five-year contract to deliver the Welsh Government’s Warm Homes Nest scheme.  The contract, estimated to be worth around £100m supports work to tackle fuel poverty, improve the energy efficiency of the existing housing stock in Wales, reduce carbon emissions, and deliver jobs and growth in the energy efficiency sector.

British Gas has held this contract for Nest since 2011 and has provided energy advice and support to over 98,000 people around Wales. Of those, over 29,000 received a package of free energy efficiency improvements.

The scheme will deliver energy efficiency improvements such as new boilers and insulation to around 4,500 Welsh households each year. British Gas will use its Welsh based supply chain to deliver the scheme with a mix of around 350 local contractors and it’s own employees working on the scheme. The contract begins on 1 April 2018 and will run for five years.

Matthew Bateman, Managing Director of Field Operations for British Gas said; “We’ve delivered the Warm Homes Nest scheme on behalf of the Welsh Government for almost seven years.
