CMA update

The CMA’s provisional findings and notice of possible remedies for the investigation into the UK energy market were published on 7 July 2015.

We welcome the CMA’s wide-ranging review, which recognises the realities and difficulties of implementing policy, pricing and regulation in a complex marketplace, and their provisional findings look to be a comprehensive and thorough assessment.

We also welcome the possibility that this review will have a constructive and positive influence on competition in the energy market. While we have questions and concerns about some of the findings and proposals, we look forward to engaging with the CMA in the next phase of this process. The CMA is expected to publish its provisional decision early in the new year.
