Frequently asked questions
What is the Fixed Solar Saver offer?
You’ll get a business electricity tariff from British Gas, plus on-site solar panels and battery storage through our solar partner HDM Energy, all without paying upfront installation costs. It’s designed to help you start using solar energy more easily, while giving you more control over your electricity costs.
Do I need to pay upfront for Fixed Solar Saver?
No. Your solar panels and battery system are fully funded by our partners, so there’s no upfront investment needed to get started.
How do I pay for the business electricity supplied to my business?
You simply pay for the electricity generated on-site through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), typically at a lower rate than standard market prices.
How do Fixed Solar Saver contracts work and what happens when they end?
You’ll have two contracts: your electricity supply with British Gas, and a separate solar and battery agreement with our solar partner HDM Energy. Your electricity contract usually lasts around 2 years, while the solar agreement is longer term (typically around 15 years, depending on your setup). When your electricity contract ends, you can renew with us or choose another supplier. When your solar agreement ends, you’ll usually have the option to buy the system for a small amount, depending on your agreement terms.
How much electricity should my business use for Fixed Solar Saver?
Fixed Solar Saver is designed for businesses that use more than 30,000 kWh of electricity each year. If your business uses this amount, Fixed Solar Saver could help you benefit from lower-cost electricity through solar and battery technology with no upfront investment.
